If the winchester safari stock design seems to be wrong for lots of shooters using iron sights,Which factory stock design do you guys think is better for iron sights & felt recoil issues .what have you concluded as one of the best?
How do the double rifles compare to the bolt rifles with cheek weld/sight/recoil in the cheek issues? No comparison?
For someone who has tried them all,how does the winchester compare to ruger, sako, styer,cz,weatherby, remington,Dakota, etc. for recoil & ironsights? I have shot the old remington safari custom in 375H&H with the very big/heavy barrel and the recoil felt lots less than the winchester.Gun handled great as well.I have handled the styer 376 and sako, sauer, dakota and they felt fine but did not shoot them,I thought the early ruger express 416rigby felt very heavy out front and the whitworth 458 and ruger #1 tropic 458 kicked me like a damn mule! Both rifles even felt super lite weight and were great for carrying but hell on felt recoil. As far as a rifle feeling like a nice cadallic and i immediately like the feel of the rifle,I have to vote for the sauer 202 and dakota both 375H&H,but like i said before have not shot these rifles...
My safari winchester kicks my cheek and i have trouble getting down low just like you guys,i really like shooting it with a scope because of this, but feel like the sporting way to hunt traditional/old tyme way/is to use iron sights and get close range shots......Just some of my thoughts and doesnt mean nothing...but i have noticed the winchester sight picture has been talked about alot on AR and shumbas post- got punched in the face,-made me wonder whats out there that works much, much better for you...

My favorite factory rifles for shooting with iron sights are early Brnos, ZKK Brnos, post-war M70s with low combs, and various pre-war European Mauser sporters. Most rifles today are made with scopes in mind and have higher combs. Among contemporary big-bore bolt guns, Brno ZKK602s and CZ500s with modified combs feel best to me with irons.
