Has anyone used one of these actions on one of their rifles or has anyone had any experience with these actions? They appear to be well made in that they are machined rather than cast. I also like the fact that they are made in America. Any comments would be appreciated.

I have handled them and they appear to be well made and are a significant step up from Ruger/CZ, etc. Basically they are a square bridge model 70.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago that talked about them briefly. There is a similar machined square-bridge action from Granite Mountain Arms. The GMA has a C-ring breech, if I remember right, while the Hein is cone breech, like the Model 70. The GMA action is around $3K, while the Hein is a little less. The Hein is available in round bridge config, too.

These are the former Noreen actions. I did have a brochure about these, but I don't know where I put it. Seems like this company bought out the Noreen action and is now manufacturing it.

In expense, yes. In engineering, doubtful.

How does the safety shroud fit into the bolt body? Does it screw in like th Mausers and the Model 70's? And strip down as easily?

The reason I'm asking is becuse I've got a Ultra-Mag action that has a real weak poorly designed push and twist lock set up that I really don't like very much.

It's so bad that I'm seriouly considering replacing it. Wayne
