.505 Gibbs, CZ, and A-Square: Jamison to the rescue Login/Join

I have it on good authority that CZ has contacted Jamison International of Sturgis, South Dakota to sort out the brass problems.

This is great news. Mr. Jamison makes the .408 Chey-Tac and has about a million pieces of .505 Gibbs basic to form, headstamp, and trim into either .505 Gibbs or .408 Chey-Tac. His brass is 70,000 PSI capable, in either cartridge, though the CZ .505 Gibbs rifle should be kept down to 55,000 PSI max.

What was holding up the .505 Gibbs brass was the headstamp tool that was improperly made by a supplier of tooling. That is now fixed.

Now we will be waiting for Jamison to get the specs of his brass to match the CZ tooling used to make the .505 Gibbs chambers.

I could live with that, and maybe not have to slop out my CZ chamber. thumb

And the price for the best ever .505 Gibbs brass will be the best ever price too, no doubt.

Hi Ron
Jamison is also making the 416 Rigby cylindrical brass without a headstamp. The basic brass for the 470 Mbogo. This is very good news and it will be nice to support him and wish him well. He will be making a lot of people very happy by having a source of brass for many wildcats etc.
Take good care,
Dave

Now,
If we can only get him to make a run of 450/400 3 inch brass. He has the BeLL machines.

Rusty,
Give Marc some time, I think he plans to offer more of the old BELL stuff eventually.

Dave,
Good plug. thumb

John,
Here is the same info as Dave gave, and a bit more:

Marc Jamison, Owner

Jamison International V LLC
3551 Mayer Avenue
Sturgis, SD 57785

Phone: (605) 347-5090
Fax: (605) 347-4704

email: jamisonintl@rushmore.com

You could stand at Marc's front door to the plant and throw a rock to hit the front door of Dakota Arms.

I visited Mr. Jamison a couple of times. He gave me a .408 Chey-Tac Dummy cartridge and an empty piece of .408 Chey-Tac brass.

That .408 Chey-Tac dummy feeds and chambers slick as greased owl crap, even in the rough CZ .505 Gibbs.

I am going to send some A-Square brass for the .505 Gibbs to Mr. Jamison and let him analyze it to see where A-Square went wrong. thumb

I broke three depriming pins and bent two depriming stems in the process of depriming three cases to send to Mr. Jamison.

Those A-Square flash holes are very wierd and tiny. I finally got a small punch, smaller than the standard depriming pin, and felt my way into the flash hole then used a steel plate in the press top to push the punch against to deprime the cases. Two of the flash holes were too tiny to get the micro-punch into, so I finally gave up on that.

There are obvious problems with the A-Square brass. I still fear that the CZ chamber on the .505 Gibbs is too tight, but I hope some new brass from Jamison will do the trick. A .408 CheyTac dummy worked smoothly in the CZ .505 Gibbs.

Is the ghost of Bertram inhabiting A-Square brass? I have noticed Bertram .470 NE brass having flash holes off center and too small to fit the depriming pin.
