News from "AHR":

The .585 "AHR" case has been designed and is in production.
The case is similiar to a 577 Nitro, but strengthened in the base as this is now a rimless case. The rim will be .600 dia. This fits the CZ-550 bolt face perfectly, just as the .500 "AHR" does. The case is 3.010 long and will be trimmed to 3.000". The neck is .500 and shoulder angle is 30 degrees. The length of the case is designed such as to take the longest 750 GN bullet that Woodleigh has, which is the 750 GN solid. The barrels will be be 1-12 twist and will be cut rifled. The contour of the barrel is the same as our standard 500 AHR and 450 AHR.
Orders are presently being taken with a projected 4 month leade time. When in full swing, full length dies, bullets and ".585 AHR" headstamped brass will be stock items @ "AHR".

That sounds interesting. Any data on the cartridge in terms of muzzle energy, velocity, etc? What type of stock and sight system are they considering?
Thanks
Mark

Nick,
Have you handled the AHR rifle? Myself and others have posted trying to find out if anyone had ever seen one of their guns in person. The only person that had actually had AHR do any work on their gun was Dane Burns, and he only had his stocked. I came very close to using AHR, but could find no good references. Any information you have would be appreciated.

Boltgun,
The answer is no but I am sure "AHR" will furnish you the references you seek. Personally, I can't imagine any builder of such rifles not providing quality work in deference to repeat business and present day liability concerns. You can be sure of receiving a well crafted, properly machined and safe product. The membership of our "Forum" is certainly not shy about spreading the word about inferior products!

I have a buddy that got a 500 AHR, though I haven't heard how he likes it yet. He did offer a buddy and I a chance to shoot it, but unfortunately due to our mostly roadless state (something I am generally grateful for) I likely won't get a chance to shoot it anytime soon.

My first response to seeing this thread was, ooh, ooh I want one!

I have a friend with a 500 AHR. He hasn't shot it yet as the rifle arrived with a broken stock. He said it is a beatiful rifle and the pictures I have seen of it suggest the same thing.
