Well, I just bought a 416 Taylor. It is a VZ 24 action, 09 bottom metal, Bold triger, Douglas barrel and glass bedded, laminate stock. I have mounted a 1.5 x 4.5 Burris scope on it and I have everything coming to reload for it. I can,t wait to shoot it.

Congratulations! What sort of recoil pad does it have?

It has a Pacmyer Decelerator. After shooting, I might add a mecurey reducer, I have had very good luck with them in my skeet guns. But the gun already weighs 9 1/2 pounds, unloaded, so it might be fine like it is. What do you think?

Good. Sometimes people don't think about recoil reduction and are unpleasantly surprised.

Unless that stock doesn't fit you properly, you should be able to acclimate to that 9.5lb. .416 Taylor quickly. Start with reduced loads (say, 80% of maximum) and move up when ready.
