Just to let every one know I finialy touched off the Ruger-1 in 450-31/4 i got from the judge. With the BPE type loads it was a blast to shoot a little heavier than the max loads for the 45-70 I shoot.but i must say SWEET JESUS,MARY, AND JOESPH
Those max loads out off a 7 or 8lb no-1 will flat get your attention [Eek!] , but i already have another order going out for another 20 rounds .
judgeg, thanks again, having more fun than the law allows [Big Grin]

Been there and done that..... but it still doesn't kick as much as my H&R 10 gauge with 2 oz slugs at 1400 fps plus. I think the shotgun only weighs 5.5 lbs. It is the only firearm that has literally put me on my butt.

I once had a .450/400 3 1/4" double rifle that I shot pretty much all one afternoon. I shot a bunch from the bench and I ruptured the bursa (is that how you spell it?) in right my elbow when the recoil slammed it into the bench. The thing got infected and my doctor friend would come by the house every night on his way home and jam a needle in my elbow to drain it. Kind of ruined anticipation for supper. I've learned to pad my right elbow when shooting big bores from the bench albeit a little late [Eek!] .
