Hello: Does anyone have any data for reduced loads in the 416? I have 300gr and 400gr cast GC bullets out of NEI moulds. Also have 400gr Hornady bullets to work with. Thanks in advance, Mike C

Mike, Using Norma and Federal brass and FED 215 primers with 400 gr cast bullets I've tried the following combinations: 95 Gr H-4831 shot a pattern rather than a group 105 gr H-8700 forming a group 3-4" at 100 yards, velocity is 1968 fps 100 gr H-8700 group is better, 1-2", no chrono data I believe the best powder for cast bullets at low velocity is likely to be XMR-5744. Can't locate the data for that just now. I have also used 350 gr Speer Mag-Tips with 98.0 gr IMR 4350. Accuracy is quite good. Same load with 350 Barnes X yields 2687 fps. Impact point seems to be identical. Certainly potent enough for North American game!

The accurate site lists a 350 LRN with XMR-5744 starting at 49.5 grains at 1912 fps. 55.0 grains nets 2173 fps. How do you like the NEI's? Been thinkin about gettin myself one of their molds for my Rigby. It would make a neat cast boolit rifle with the XMR powder at about 2000 fps.
