Guys, I have tinkered quite a bit with my 416 Rem using 400 gr bullets from Nosler, Swift and Barnes TSX. Just curious if anyone has used the Woodleigh protected points? Woodleigh markets them as being a bit less expansive than their std offering. Anyone tried any at 2400 FPS? EZ

I have used the Woodleigh PP bullets in .458" and .510" diameter at MVs of up to 2,500 fps - including the .458" on Cape buffalo at an MV of 2,300 fps, and IV of somewhere around 2,000-2,100 fps - and I can tell you that they are definitely on the soft side. I would keep IV below 2,100 fps. They will then perform well. The reason I prefer the TSX bullet, especially for higher velocity big bores, is that it will perform very well within a much wider range of IVs. Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.
