Another .458 AR is born
I finally got the "practical build" .458 AR bedded into its cheap Fajen's synthetic stock. Did the front to the end of the barrel shank (abt 2" from the front of the ring) and the back under the tang.

Is snowing today, so I just took it out to the side yard and fired three rounds to see if the stock was going to survive.

Oh My! My starting load (500 gr Woodleigh with 77.0 gr RL-15 and WLR primers) appears to be about as stout as the last Lott I fired. It extracts and ejects properly. With the scope just bore sighted I was on the paper about 6" low. Stock appears no worse for the experience.

Oh My! I think this is gonna be fun.

Still have the sights and metal finishing to complete as well as painting the stock. But ... we are making progress. Will have about $700 in it including the Parker-Hale action, bottom metal, chambered barrel, Bold trigger, Weaver bases, Ruger front sight band, cheap Fajen's stock, cases, and die set.

Now for some decent weather and some serious shooting.

Oh but it was ... the action was bought as a 7mm Rem Mag barreled action Big Grin

Anyone want a good price on a commercial 7mm Rem Mag Mauser barrel? Has front sight but no rear sight. In decent shape.

Big Grin

He would after one pull of the trigger on a live round !

Big Grin

Sacrificing a 7mm Rem Mag for a high performance .458 is a significant improvement in chambering demographics as far as I'm concerned!
