I suppose CZ's 505 Gibbs will be really a 505 bore? rather than a 510?

PC,

Remember we were thinking about one of Robs 600's but the main argument against was it is not much of a power gap from the 585.

But if you start collecting the CZ's, having "the most powerful catridge possible in the action" will fit right in.

Karl.

Wow!!! This is certainly good news. In order for the 505 Gibbs to work with a mass produced rifle, they will probably need to re-design the stock/action configuration with some sort of re-inforcement, as the stock can crack easily with the recoil of this monster. Wondering if they will use the same current 550 Magnum action or will they have something bigger? Thanks!

As soon as they come to Australia I will be getting one. It will only be used for the occaisional pig and scrub bull but maily be used on charging ant hills (termite mounds) and dead tree stumps. AS all the experts will say ,it might not be very practicle or needed, But it will be fun.

Hi.

Got mail from cz today. New big bore calibers was said to be 458 lott and 505 gibbs, NOT 404 to my grief. 450 rigby was not mentioned at all. I really hoped they would chamber for the 404.

I may have to pick up a used one after it has been fired once or twice just to hunt jackrabbits with! But I won't keep it long--don't like calling the bank before I go to the range!

Here is the reply I received from CZ today regarding the new calibers.

Yes it is correct we plan on adding some new safari calibers. I know one is
the 505 Gibbs and some others as well. I have no specifics yet. Please try
back in a couple months. Thanks

The .505 Gibbs, the .450 Rigby, and .404 Jeffery are already in the works. Who knows when they will be available.
