If you do not change the stock, have your wooden one bedded and floated to the barrel recoil lug. The cz rings also work really well, I have a 2-7x33 varix X11 mounted on mine and it gives me good field of view and heaps of eye relief.
Have fun.

just got one in last friday. PLAIN stock, shot great, and, in all reality, you are getting a rigby for ~650. if you don't know, your trigger is a "set" trigger. with an EMPTY gun, close the bolt, pull the trigger. Then, work the bolt, EMPTY, and push the trigger forward, and then see.
If you can believe what you read on these forums and over a fairly long period, then the combination of CZ 550 and 416 Rigby and also the Ruger and 416 Rigby, seem to have a higher satisfaction rating than just about any other combination of caliber and gun and especially with regards to accuracy.

Weight. CZ rings are a good start.
That may sound like it's intended to be humorous, and I suppose it is, but I actually believe it's good advice.

In all truth, the .416Rigby in any rifle is the cartridge against with all other Dangerous game cartridges must be measured. I've amassed a bit of experience with it and the stories you hear of its effect on game are absolutely true! The .416 Rigby is in fact more shootable than any of the bigger bores and has virtually the same ballistics as a .375 but with much greater retained energy. A well set up Rigby with a 1.5X5 leupold or Swarofski in Talley mounts can be used successfully from 50 yrds to well over 200. The CZ550 is an excellent gun for the price and you have done well to buy one.-Rob

It's about time you bought a real gun! Add a Swarovski 1.5-6 30mm. I know a guy who can get you one.
