I just picked up my alloted hunting ammo for my loaner rifles. McMillan custom ADG ammo .416 RM. North fork 430 grain FPS and spire point loaded to 2250 FPS. Both shoot great out of the rifle. Looks to me they will be a great buffalo cartridge but I have no experience with these from what I heard they are great bullets. Just wanted some feedback on the heavy 430 grain .416's from NF. Thanks a bunch White Mountains Arizona

The 430 grain North Forks are fairly new...I obtained a few 430 grain .423 (404 Jeffery) after the DSC show. I would think that they will do on Buffalo (softs) and Elephant (solids) just fine. I not so sure they are needed, I used 380 grain North Forks (.423) on Buffalo (softs) and the new designed solids on Elephant last month, nomial velocity 2400 fps. and all work just fine...more than enough penetration with the 380s The 380/370 grain bullets may be a bit more versatile....

Thanks. They are part of a new McMillan rifle cartridge lineup and I guess I will see first hand how they will perform. Should be alot of penetration I would think and would be along the lines of the Robinson way of thinking. May be too much penetration? Just read a story where a guy with a .416 weatherby accidently killed 3 buff with one shot White Mountains Arizona
