I discussed LASIK with my eye Doctor. He told me that I was not a candidate for it as I had cateracts and at some point in the future would need surgery for those. Better to wait and correct the vision through the cateract proceedure than to do two surgeries on my eyes. My question is: Are there and issuses regarding shooting big bore rifles, 470 NE or 416 Rigby, after this surgery? I haven't taken my last Buffalo and wouldn't want to undergo a proceedure that would prevent me from hunting one.

I had the cataract surgery at the age of 14 (blunt trauma to the eye at age 6 caused the cataract) and have had no problems thus far with 375's and such. It might be a good idea to check in with the doctor on that one...I am curious to know myself with my RUM on the way. I have had it for so long now that I had forgotton about it. From my understanding, the replacement lens has little "hooks" for lack of a better word, that imbed themselves in the eye. I would imagine once they settle it should be fairly strong, but I am no doctor.

Have implants for cataracts in both eyes. Done about 15 years ago. Have shot bigbores regularly since that time. As of my last exam in January by an Opthalomologist they were still perfect. I am diabetic so have detailed exam yearly. Have been lucky ,have not had prescription changed in over 10 years. Incidentally I am 72. SCI Life Member NRA Patron Life Member DRSS

I haven't had cateract or lasik surgery, but I have had radial keratotomy (RK) surgery on both my eyes about 15 years ago. I shoot my 416 Remington with no problem at all. Jeff
