I'd add pictures but don't remember how to do it on here

45/70 marlin SBL leupold vx3hd 1.5-5

350gr swift A frame at about 1950/2000fps

Water filled milk jug test (and random BS)

30yds - bullet passed through 4x4" piece of wood, frying pan, 3/4" piece of wood x2 and a chunk of cinderblock. Being found in the snow a foot or so beyond

50yds - bullet made it into and split the back of the 7th jug, denting the 8th substantially. Bullet expanded to .68". Haven't weighed it yet

100yds - bullet passed through 3/4" board before passing through 5 jugs and disappearing into the great snowy beyond

Only thing that would make it better is if they opened up a bit more at these velocities. But I'm ok giving up some expansion for penetration, especially since it starts out at .458

I bought those 350 Swifts each time they were released by Brownells, then Midway as I recall, ended up with 4 boxes..Got my best velocity with N-133 and my max load pressure signs got less, I got more expansion in boxes of magazines test with about the same penetration. Dry magazines are hard on bullets, more so than traditional water soaked magazines..I hope to use this load on elk, and I found some 400 gr. Remington bullets and some original BArnes for 45-70 and 348 in heavy weights...

Latest Filer gun show had lots of powder, primers and a few bullets, things seem to be opening up locally and prices were down considerably, and you could deal with the hoarders??
