My .416 is shooting about 5.5" high at 50 yards. It has the number 4 front sight (I think) in now. Any thoughts as to what number sight to start with to get her right?

The number is stamped on the bottom of the sight blade.

My .375 shot 4" high at 100 w/ 300 grainers, I installed the next higher blade and that put it dead on, exactly -4" vertical change. Don't know how this would correlate w/ .416.

I went from 9 to 10. The guy at CZ-USA knew all about the blades and sent the right one to me.

I may be wrong but you might want to consider that the front sight being a little too low may be intentional on the part of the manufacturer. On my CZ, the flip up blade on the rear sight is about the same height as the fixed blade. Now, if I were to file down the fixed rear sight to get the right height at a relatively short distance like 50 or 100 yards, the flip up rear blade now gives me a higher point of aim for zeros farther out. Just something to think about. The flip up blades aren't exactly super useful but that might eventually want to have the rifle zeroed that way.

You may be on to something. There seems so little difference between the height of the flip up sights and the standing one. I may go that route.

I most respectfully disagree with Monsieur Wink.

I would not file the sights!

The rear sights should be the correct heights from the factory, the difference is mere thousandths, that's all it takes to compensate for bullet drop, that's why they seem almost the same height, almost, but not exactly!

SHOOT the rifle at 100M using all three sights and note the POI difference, then compare to a ballistics chart, they should be correct.

If you file one, you have to file all three, just to get back where you started.

Each one has to be filed exactly the same amount, thousandths!

That is why you change the front sight blade to regulate at 100M, then your rifle is zeroed for 25M, 100M, 200M, and 300M, using the corresponding leaf.

Filing will mess up what the factory has already done!

Of course each rifle may not be perfect, but I strongly suggest you fire a shot with each sight to see how they work before you start filing. When I got my rifle zeroed at 100M, the flip up leaves for 200M and 300M regulated perfectly.

Hey There!

I believe the very best one can do in this case here to remove that front sight, and replace it with a Recktnagel front sight that has replaceable beeds with 1/10mm graduation!
I started out also with a CZ and I was never able to get it right with the sights. The guy I soled to replaced the frontsight with the Recktnagel, and now things are in order

Thanks for the info. I will try to fix it using a different front sight as Tanzania is looming in the next few months. I have various blades on other CZs, but they are quite tall.
