Something is screwed up there.

I was just going to post about that. How do you have:
UNRIFLED - UNCONTOURED BARREL BLANK BLOW OUT SALE

and list:

BORE GROOVE DIAMETER LENGTH SS or CM QUANTITY

????????????????

i had assumed they were barrels that were ready for another barrel maker to button rifle. But offering contouring as an extra does not fit because as far as I am aware button rifling is always done on a straight barrel followed by contouring and stress relief.

They are trying to see how many they could sell
then put the rifling in. I'll agree that is a wrong to sell them if thats what they are doing.

Mountains out of mole hills and ASSumptions.
You call and tell them what you want. They check inventory, ask you what contour and twist rate you want and tell you how long b/4 you get your new ULTRA CHEAP barrel. Took all of 7 minutes!
It's not that difficult!

Yes, and their barrels seem to have a good reputation. At least no one here has complained and more than a few AR posters have bought barrels or barreled actions from them.

I just ordered a 500/510 x 15" twist (that's the fastest they offer). A little note of caution: the fellow on the other end said "let me check and make sure we can rifle those; I haven't done a fifty yet" so there are some in the pile of unrifled blanks with dimensional issues. Also, there is a 4-6 week delivery 'cause they're in the middle of a production run right now so don't be in a hurry if you need rifling.

The other issue with the fifties is the $20 contour offer isn't good on them. It's $60.00 for a fifty cal and they won't contour lighter than 1.20 at the muzzle. That's way too heavy for me and I'll spend a little more if I can get it the way I want somewhere else.

I put in an email, hopefully I didn't miss out!! The 3 I am interested in have quite a few in stock...but they're also popular.

Too bad there were no 404 barrels Frowner I would've had my poor mans 404 up and running soon.

I am quite sure that Montana Rifle Company would not send out a barrel that had not been properly treated, whatever that entails.

I called and inquired about the unrifled barrels yesterday morning. This is what I was told and I passed it along. It seems that they are finishing the barrels before selling them.

Well they were out of 308 28" Frowner Guess I won't be rebarreling my 300 from 24 to 26 but I can live with that.

I DID however, pick up my .366 barrel!! Thats going to be a 9.3x62 on a SS Win 70 Classic, with SS barrel. Went with 24" barrel, but will probably have it cut to 23" for personal handling dimensions.

He said the 243 are SCARCE, 257, 284 and 308 are pretty much gone in the longer lengths, guess they've been running this deal for 6 weeks now.

Only problem I saw with the deal was that their barrels stop at 50 caliber Frowner. Otherwise excellent deals.

Got a call fom the Montana guys today.

They were going to rifle my barrel that I bought right after this was posted. That's pretty quick for $50.

To bad the button for the twist rate I wanted is busted...
