Would it be possible to rebore a 416 ruger alaskan to a 458 win. Is there enough meat on the barrel for that and who would be a good person to do this if so. Thanks

I don't know about the barrel being 'meaty' enough, but based on the dimensional differences of the two cartridges, it isn't just a straight rebore.

How about the .458 Ruger wildcat?

George is correct.

You need to do a 458 Accurate Reloading because your case body is already .532".

On the question of meat, measure the outside diameter of the muzzle. If it is .760" or larger you should be 'good to go', though you will need to check with your 'cut rifling' person.

Ditto GeorgeS ...
You could not set the barrel back enough to clean up the .416 Ruger chamber to .458 WinMag, not enough shank/knoxform on the factory barrel.

But a .458/.416 Ruger wildcat is possible.
Anybody done one yet?
That would be like a 400 Whelen on steroids.

Rebarreling a .416 Ruger to .458 WinMag would be much easier. You could have the sights removed from the .416 barrel and have the new barrel contoured to fit them.
It would make for a slim and light .458 WinMag or .458 Ruger, if you dare.
Muzzle diameter at 20" crown is about 0.755" on the .416 Ruger Alaskan stainless barrel.

Actually, the larger body of the Ruger would get pretty close to a 458 Lott for capacity.

And the 458 AccRel has 6 grains BEYOND the Lott.

The 416 Ruger has about 96 grains capacity using AmmoGuide and it might gain a grain when being necked up to .458.
The 458 Lott is 98 grains, (Ammoguide units), and
the 458 AccRel is 104 grains.

What's not to like?
