I am thinking about buying a Ruger No.1 in 450/400. I already have a Ruger RSM in 416 Rigby, but I have never owned. I once shot an off the shelf Ruger No. 1 in 458 Lott. The recoil was much more intense than my 416 Rigby. How are the accuracy, handling and recoil on the Ruger No. 1 in 450/400. I would appreciate hearing any experience you have wit this rifle. Thanks!! Go Duke!!

Since you already have a 416 Rigby, the 450/400 would be reduntant. If you drop the velocity of your Rigby down to @2150fps, you have the 450/400. Why not think about a Ruger No1 in 9,3x74R? It would be an excellent addition to your 416 Rigby. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I have one of the non-Boddington,Boddington rifles and simply love the damn thing. I have been shooting cast bullets and 5744 powder. Just fun to shoot, like a 45-70, very accurate. I use a NECG peep and one of thei white bead front sites. Has a pretty good thump. factory loads are pleasant to shoot( noyhing even close to lott or rigby recoil) Dr. C At Home on the Range-Texas Panhandle

The 450/400 Ruger should be very accurate. A plus for the Ruger is that you don't have to worry with trying to just shoot loads for "regulation" as I do in my double rifle. You could hop up the velocity a bit handloading. You will have, as with your 416 Rigby a long 400 grain bullet that will provide good penetration. Recoil with factory ammo will be less than than Rigby. Rusty We Band of Brothers! DRSS, NRA & SCI Life Member "I am rejoiced at my fate.
