Of those listed Hartmann&Weiss is head and shoulders above the rest.

It's not a fair comparison, IMO.

I'd have Dennis Olson do it for me. He built the one I have now and I am pretty pleased.

They start out with what is generally accepted to be the best made modern mauser action and they simply put more hours into fit and finish and attention to detail.

H&W is considered to be one of the top 5 makers on the planet. None of the others listed make it into that top 5... not even H&H.

These pictures don't really do them justice, but they are all that I could find.

Outstanding example of a high-dollar masterpiece.
I can see how someone might spend a great deal of money to have a rifle such as that one made for them.
However, I cannot afford something like that, so I'll have to be crass enough to ask what the price tag would be for this one... Eeker

I beleive the Hartmann & Weiss magnum Mauser actions alone are around $6k. Eeker But they come as the most finely detailed and fitted action you can buy today. I'm not sure what steel they use though and if it is through hardened or surface hardened. I know GMA uses 8620 that not only case hardens but does through harden a bit in the process as well.

I'm pretty sure Echols uses the H&W action when he builds a magnum Mauser actioned rifle. What blows my mind is that top smiths such as Heilmann and Echol say that the actions in this class (GMA, H&W, Prechtel...) need a bit of work before they let them out of there shop.

Well, that kind of blows my mind, too!
WHY do they think the action needs work?

THAT rifle is one --- no, THE --- best I've seen in a long time, because it is so STRIKING.
It actually LOOKS LIKE it's WORTH the MONEY.
It doesn't look overdone, and even the LION engraving is good. It doesn't resemble a cartoon, and it has 'depth'.
