Gents,

Anyone own a rifle so chambered, other than bigdoggy2bore, that is? Any words of wisdom on the cartridge as compared to the other .585 boomers? I need to come to some conclusion as to which .585 to go with for my upcoming rifle build, and, any knowledge passed on by any of you would be appreciated. A .585 Hubel Express would be a great choice, but only on a PH based rifle.

Respects,

Phill

I'd still say go with a 585AHR.

IIRC, you have a 600OK - for which brass is easily obtained. Simply neck that down and you have rounds for your 585 AHR - good for everything but international travel where you might need properly head stamped brass. For that, some of us who have 585AHR guns might be willing to each part with enough for a long safari.

Just my $0.02

If you just have to have a .585 I would also go with the 585 AHR it's my old 585/.600 and if you get tired of it,it's just a rebarrel away from a .6000k or a .600ok2 .-Rob

Hi Phill,

585 HE fits into big CZ, Enfield P14, M17 & Remington Mod. 30,
as well as Big PH and others too. Any rifle that handles the 505
Gibbs can be used.

PM the 585 HE creator {hubel458} and he'll tell you all
about his big brass run & straight, tapered brass benefit;
(many reloads per piece for one) and so on.

I guess you're a collector because I read that you already
have a rifle in a larger cal. I dare say if a guy has a 550
Magnum or 600 whatever already, he's no NEED for .585
OF ANY FLAVOR, unless referring to black powder cals. (which
of course would not be DG intended)

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

There may not be a need, but there is always WANT. BTW the want always wins.
