They are in the process of giving me a quote for tooling/minimum order etc for .700 cal- as in 700nitro bullets. I put forward 1000gn with 'thinnest jacket'.

Just wondering if anyone has gone the same route with the 12GFH?

Karl.

Karl-I haven't and I don't think Rob has as he and John are going to use John's Bullets. And I have a few John sent me also.I will go in with you and others to get Hawk to make a run of thin jacket 700 and 12GA, as long as the base of bullet has the brass closed to a small spot, like the
550 bullets they are making.Ed.

Karl,

Sound as if you want to make a 700 Nitro roo bomber

Karl,

I just got the prices from RNS for 550 contoured barrel, long chanmberd, sights, dies and neck expanders and it around $1230AUS. You can probably add another %100AUS max to fit barrel. I just need to check we are OK at our range for 50 cal and over. I think it is only 50 BMG that is banned.

Mike,
That was quick.
Yes I am trying to obtain the perfect Australian big game bullet - one that stays inside small game.

Ed I'll let you know when Hawk gets back to me. I am also trying to get contact details for Naval Ordnance who used to make odd size softpoints somewhere in the US.

Ed,

I lost track of where John was up to with his bullets. Are they the deforming solid type(like GS),or does he make traditional softpoints too?

Karl- I don't know if he has got the deforming type
developed yet.I know he talked about it. The 12GQ FH slugs I got from him are
half hard brass and wouldn't deform in an oak tree.
I can check with him.Ed.

Karl- I've got non-deforming solids now but I am working on a softer version for all of the calibers I make. Even these won't expand much unless driven very fast. I don't have anything like the typical soft point.

John,
99% of our game is probably too thinskined for your solids or tough bullets but I'd like to try some in the future for target work once I am set up.
On that note is it possible to make a pointed solid?
