DG experience with 505 Gibbs and 600g Woodleigh
Hi anyone have real world Dangerous Game experience with using the 505 Gibbs and the 600g Woodleigh bullets, particularly the Protected Points and their Solids? I'm planning to load them to a leisurely 2150 fps. I was just curious as to the performance of the Protected Points in buffalo. I expect the solids to do well.

500 grains shot several elephants witht the 600 grain woodleigh out of a 505. He reported the results in African Hunter magazine several issues ago. Short story is that all eles were dead on arrival

I have not used the .505" Woodleighs.

But I have killed an elephant using the .510" 600 grain Woodleigh solids in my .500 A-Square. I used H4350 and easily attained a velocity of 2,300 fps.

I can testify from personal experience that that load worked on elephant. Cool thumb

I have become a convert to Barnes bullets in my .500, however. They seem to be just about perfect.
