Al- pwm- I am going to set up 2 bore test barrel, with a screw in breech or cap, using a 30mm breech section.Anchor it to a block.Pwm do you have a sketch of your screw breech.Would it work for a shoulder fired gun?Are you making your own barrel? Is that Eley 2bore you plan on using the paper or brass case one that is of the smaller diameter?..Ed.

i have showed big al pics from a von Dreyse neddle rifle wall gun I have measured in 2003. this was shooting a 24mm paper cartridge with 25gramm blackpowder and a 100 gramm bullet. the idea is brilliant and simple, inexpensive to make. this will be a shoulder gun but with a unusual shoulder stock design. you need the space for opening the srew brech. it will be fine for a test gun and maybe for more. I am going now with a copy of the eley 2 bore, make it from 20x129 steal cases. your case is bigger, I know the 27mm mauser board canon. 27mm barrel will be fine for the eley 2bore( will named allways this way so we will not confused ). agree with you that a smoth bore will be enough, this was allways a 50 yard gun and smothbores have lesser pressure.will see if its possible to send pics of the von Dreyse neddle fire wall gun. barrel question stand till now maybe the 30mm can be used with minies. a guy here have a muzzle loading canon, barrel is make from anold ww2 37mm flak barrel. he shot realy big minies with this.

pwm--No one here has any surplus 25 mm or 27 mm barrels, that I could find. The 25mm( if we could have got some) would have worked for our 4 bore, so we just went to the fellow who made some for military(Badger)and had him change tooling to make same diameter(.998 for 4bore) with shallower rifling and slower twist.....On the two bore, I suppose we could have went to someone to make a 100% full size 2 bore, but then the cases we are using to build ours would not work. And bigger cases would have to be made from surplus cases costing 5 times as much or lathe turned costing 10 times as much.So we went with the most available, and economical solution, using 30mm barrels and the cases we make from 27 mm cases. Getting guys set up to make any more barrels sizes is more work and money needed than what we have time to do.Ed.
