I just took delivery of my new 500 jeffery today. The Mauser action feeds empties from the double stack magazine box. I think it weighs in at a little over 10.5 lbs and is done very well.

this is another rifle by my favorite riflebuilder. He hates it when I mention his name as people call and tell him about my posts and he doesn't like the notariety. This rifle is built on a 1935 Chilean mauser action. The staggered magazine box is a special order item from Blackburn Machine. It seems they were commissioned by Hartman and Weiss to do several and has them in stock. The barrel is a Kreiger barrel and the overall lines of the sights and profile come from an original 500 Jeffery rifle that he was able to photograph and handle for a while. The stock blank is from Preslick's and is a very nice blank for a boomer. I am not photo literate yet and my friend djpaintless that posts all those fine rifles is off on a job right now. I will try to uplaod the photos tomorrow. Now if my dies can get here and my shoulder heals up from the surgery I had, I will have something to do this fall. The 500 Jeffery is the first installment of a series of Mauser sporting rifles I commissioned. The next one will be a 9.3x62.

Can you share more details such as sights, type of wood did you use, quarter rib, is this Double Square Bridge...I do not have any experience with Mausers so excuse me if my questions are not on point...
Can't wait to shoot it! I think Photobucket resized your pics a little too much, but oh well. I'll try and come by the weekend after this one to drool on it. I hope the soup was good.............DJ
....Remember that this is all supposed to be for fun!..................

You are correct, that was a different rifle in the bottom-most picture, now removed from image enlargement, but the one on the zehbruh skin is the .500 Jeffery.

Very nice rifle. As soon as I can find some brass I will have to sell something to have your rifle builder build me a 9.3 x 70. I am sold on his work.
You have your priorities in the exact right spot. Gorgeous rifle next to an old puke stain on the carpeting.
Mark Stratton was kind enough to sell me a Winchester Safari Express take off stock so I can have a copy of your 404J/Winchester made.
To ease your shoulder into shooting that thing, try using XMP 5744 (50 grains) under a hard cast, heat treated lead bullet. This sounds goofy, but a kevlar vest will spread the recoil out over most of your upper chest.

My wife will just die, old puke stain on the carpet. Our old pointers dog bed sits where that circle is, but your take on the issue is a great laugh.

Fine looking rifle, thanks for sharing. I for one would be proud to own such craftsmanship and don't understand why those that don't appreciate it feel the need to denigrate those that do. Lack of class I suppose.
