I thought I might find some quality first hand experience here.

I am looking at getting a new 375 H&H, and I like the looks of the Tradition or Safaris models. Never actually seen one in person yet.

Thanks

Thanks for the pages. I was really looking for someone who has used or at the very least examined one, since I have not.

Do a search here on all forums under the maker's name. At least one member owned one, and one former member (available at NitroExpress.Com) seems to be familiar with them.

SG Olds, I have handled them at Griffin & Howe, Champlin Arms, and at the Dallas SCI. I love their build philosophy...pure function without artificial "fluff" just for looks. I would probably have one, but either price, or the appearance of a killer deal on a Lon Paul or Maurice Ottmar, or something like that got me off in another direction. However, I do LOVE Johannsens.

I have said this before: I have handled and fired one Johannsen rifle, chambered in 505 Gibb. I am unable to fire rapidly three rounds out of a rifle with that amount of recoil, so I can't really comment on feeding issues. I would need a lot more experience shooting that big a bore before I think I could do a rapid fire and feed drill. So I shot it three times in a row, recovering after each shot (putting my eyeglasses back on, etc.) I found the metal work top grade in finish but was in fact just slightly disappointed in the stock work. Not that it wasn't very good, I was just expecting it to be better/perfect. And perhaps some Johannsen rifles are better than the one fired. I have seen rifles stocked by Duane Wiebe which I thought had better wood fit. To put it another way, the Johannsen seemed excellent but I think Duane makes an equal or superior product. Of course, if you've got a deal on a Johannsen, they are darn nice with a great action.
