Belts make sense on straight sided cases as they are much better in a repeating rifle than a rim for obvious feeding problems from a box magazine. They are also good on tapered cases that have questionable headspace capability on the shoulder, as with the 375 H&H. This is exactly why it was introduced. For those cases which have both enough shoulder and a belt, its pretty easy to reload to headspace off the shoulder, and the belt does not matter, except that it may decrease magazine capacity. I did have fits once with a 416 Rem in a ruger #1, as you don't get good forward thrust with the falling block. Got an occasional crack through the web, but usually it took 3 rounds or so. | |||
