While I wait for McMillan to fabricate my replacement stock (thank you D'Arcy Echols and Mr. Dick Davis of McMillan), I got a very modestly priced synthetic stock for my 500 B&M, a Champion Shooting Gear #78052

This appears to be a tough mule of a stock, a little rough around the edges, it has a big ,fat recoil pad. LOP is 13-1/2", weight as shown is 8#.

It is inletted for the for the 2 piece factory floorplate/trigerguard set up, hence the stainless parts I dug out of the junk box. A one piece floorplate assembly will require some additional inletting.

I opened up the barrel channel a little bit and the action dropped right in. No attempt was made to do any bedding at all; snug down the action screws and off to the range. The rifle feels really great and fits me well, the iron sights line up well with no fuss.

I fired 8 shots, 450 NF FPS@2300 fps. The recoil pad and the stock flex do a lot to mitigate the recoil. Still, it's a lot to hang on to, 8-10 shots is about all the fun I could manage.

You can see on the rear tang that it shifted back a little bit. I took it apart and everything by the recoil lug looks OK. We'll see how far I get with this one Wink

I hope it serves you well sir!
I ask why you went with a bent bolt handle?
I always ask this question as guys have their
reasons for bent or straight B/H, especially in
heavy recoiling rifles.

Thank you,

D/R Hunter

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Russ..........

I just thought of something, I have several of those CHEAP good for nothing plastic Winchester stocks (not Ultimates) that are take offs laying about, or I think I do if I have not already given them away. These came off M70 RUM guns, you are more than welcome to one or two of them if you want to try them too...........

Sorry I had not thought of this.....
