How do you guys shoot with these low power scopes? I just put a Leupold VX-II 1X4 on my M70 and at 1X the front sight blade fills the bottom third of the scope field.
I'm using the low Talley rings and they line up the scope perfectly with my eye position so I don't want to change that.
I also shoot with my head far back on the stock so to get the correct eye relief the front of the scope barely sticks out (1/4") of the front ring. Is that OK?

Just get used to the sight picture and you can keep both eyes open.

You really ought to shove the scope forward far enough to keep the front ring from squeezing the glass of the objective lens when you tighten the scope ring, if at all possible. You will be less likely to have the objective lens break inopportunely down the road.

If this reduces the field of view a wee bit, so be it. Get used to that too.

You have a good setup.

Ignore it; I get the same thing with my 2.5x-8x @ 2.5x, and my 2.5x fixed.

I'd move the scope forward, not my head back. As RIP said, you don't want the front ring surrounding the front lens.
