I talked on the phone the other day with a guy I know who has a Westly Richards double in 500NE. I'm not sure how old it is, but I'm guessing from before 1960? He won it in a game of poker about 15 years ago... I haven't seen in in a few years, but I seem to recall that it's in good working condition. Any ideas what such a gun might be worth? Or at least what kind of price it might start at? Erik

I'd say that I'd need a royal straight flush in spades before I'd bet it! Even if the gun is somewhat buggered up, I've never seen a "shootable" W-R in a .45 caliber and above for much less than $15K (at least, not lately). I know where one is (albeit with a set of .300 H&H barrels, too) for $47K. It's a drop-lock and engraved in pristine condition. I say that and I just bought a W-R ejector/boxlock in .450/400 3 1/4" for $11K. My seller was in a finacial strain and I was in no hurry.. and he continued to reduce the price until I couldn't stand it. Who know? So much depends on the model and condition.
