Just picked up a near new wood blued Ruger Hawkeye in 300 Winmag at a very, very low price.
I'm wanting to build a cheap to feed fun big bore plinker. Question is what calibre?
The plain Jane 458 means lots of cast bullets to choose from, 470 AR really cool & pistol bullets to plink with, 50 cal???? lots of cast bullets but what cartridge to fit in std action?
Suggestions would be appreciated.

404, either the Jeffery case or on the Ruger and get a 350-400gn GC mould.
I get exceptional accuracy from my 350gn GC mould and can plink at 1900fps or steam it at 2400+ fps in my 404 Jeffery, but I understand the Ruger case necked to 423 is an excellent round as well.
