Hi Guys, I would like to know if i only use solids in my 375 H&H, would that damage the thread in the barrel? Hamdeni

Not one bit. Solids, even mild steel jackets are covered the a gilding metal soft enough to engage the rifling without harming the bore. Military ammunition including the US during WWII used mild steel jackets for rifle bullets.

Brass solids (like Barnes) tend to be hard and difficult to engrave into the rifling unless they are a grooved solid (which the Barnes are not, but the Bridger solids are). Therefore if you are using Barnes solids, they will be a bit rougher on your bore than regular solids like Woodleigh or Hornady. Further, if you are shooting a vintage double, you should not use Barnes solids as they may damage your rifle.

Atkinson, I know it sounds unusual but these are the only solids i could find in Dar. They do penetrate well on buffalo. Hamdeni
