No Brainer...if you handload 375 RUM you can duplicate 35 Whelen, 375 H&H, 375 Weatherby and 378 Weatherby. Better accuracy than ANY of them. End of story.

Really? What load do you use to launch 300 grain bullets at 3065 fps out of the 375 RUM????

I can easily do this from my 378 WBY

RIP,

Before you start insulting me with altering my screen name to something that is derogatory...

I'm surprised you did that, actually.

Please re-read what I posted about the .375 Weatherby.

I said 're-chambering' to the .375 Weatherby is for those that PONDERED which .375 to use.

IT WAS A COMPLIMENTARY STATEMENT.

It is, in a way, the 'Thinking Man's' .375 for exactly the reasons you or anyone else has stated.

It is also a marginal gain over the H&H, if that is what is wanted.

It is a perfectly acceptable alteration that makes a lot of sense if things like ammo availability are of concern to you.

In MY case, what I want is a .375, period.

Since my collection and needs are best served by using the Remington 700 platform, and the .375 Ultra is a proprietary cartridge that has gotten some very good press on THIS FORUM, I decided that is what I will get.

Since I do not plan to hunt 'Buff in the thick stuff', my choice is perfectly acceptable to ME.

Since I may very well drop DEAD before I ever hunt Alaska, the most important thing to me is to get what I want and enjoy it in the woods or at the range or just looking at it sitting in my gun safe.

It is much more likely that I will learn to get my ass kicked by this rifle and love every shot.

I haven't 'taken' anything with a .375 'cuz I haven't ever owned one - YET.

Today, I was pricing out the new BDL 'non-embellished' rifle in .375 Ultra.

I went to the gunshow and two gunshops plus browsed the internet.

I was also checking into the scope/mount information so I'll know which one of my scopes I'll be switching out to put on this .375.

As for the 'Tactical/Hunter', that's exactly what I plan for this firearm to be.

I LIKE THAT LOOK and I LIKE THE FEEL of that style of rifle.

The sights are coming off and the scope will be QD for replacement.

The stock will either be the Hogue full bedding block or the synthetic stock from my 700/7mm Rem.Mag. which is no longer available and somewhat unique in color.

Other than that, it'll be my first .375 and an ass-kicker at that.

I would think that instead of missing altogether what I said, and then coming back with insults, you'd have understood my comment and been a little more enthusiastic with someone else joining the '.375 Club'.

Congratulations on your own hunting experiences and successes.

Attacking my lack of hunting experience and making derogatory statements doesn't go very far in encouraging others to persue their own interests.

Besides, today is my 48th Birthday, so be nice.

The 700/.375 will look pretty much like this:

The 700/7mm set up as a 'Tactical Hunter'...

BusMaster007,
Wow! You are pretty agile on your feet. You finagled that besmirchment of the 375 Weatherby into high praise for the old war horse.

In that case, EXCUSE ME!!! And welcome to the 375 Club.

I haven't met a 375 I didn't like.

Cheers!

Well, thanks, buddy! That's more like it!

You see, when you look at what I said the way I meant it, it was indeed high praise.
It just depends on what it is you wish to do with your choice in the .375 caliber.

The internet makes it difficult to ascertain the intent of the poster sometimes.
Glad we cleared this up.
Have fun with your .375's. Cheers back at 'cha!
