While browsing through the consignment rack at a local gunshop, I spotted an Interarms Mk X in .375 H&H magnum. Overall, the rifle looked in very good shape with nice bluing on the barrel, a clean, unmarked stock (although it was a bit plain, with little grain). Overall, I'm guessing that it has lived most of its life in a safe and not much in the field. I'm not sure if it was the Whitworth version with the express sights, etc., but I seem to recall that it had a monte carlo buttstock and a black recoil pad marked "Interarms." Also, the receiver was stamped with both Alexanderia Virginia and Manchester England. It also has an older model Weaver scope attached. The asking price is $450, which seems like a decent price given what I've seen here in the classifieds and other places like Gun Broker and Guns International. Any advice on what things to look for (or look out for) would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bruce, Run back to the shop and buy it. Even if it is the plain MK X version it is worth way more than $450 and a Heck of a good price for any control round feed 375. Mark MARK H. Yup. Get it QUICK!!! I've had a bunch of them and they were all good values. From the stock you are describing it is the Alaskan Model. But the only difference was the stock and the iron sights. The Whitworth had an Express style stock and Express sights. The Alaskan had the Monte Carlo comb stock and Williams rear sight. Change the safety and trigger. Change the scope base screw holes to 8×40 and do what you want as to stocks and you will have a great rifle. . One thing you will find is the rifle will have an under barrel recoil lug. That is a good thing. All the Alaskans and Whitworths I've had And been around shot great. Like 458s that shot 1.5" groups with factory 500-510 gr ammo, WITH THE EXPRESS SIGHTS !!!! 100 yard groups, not 50 or 75 yard. They are very nice, trim rifles, . Buy on sight! Phil Shoemaker : "I went to a .30-06 on a fine old Mauser action. That worked successfully for a few years until a wounded, vindictive brown bear taught me that precise bullet placement is not always possible in thick alders, at spitting distances and when time is measured in split seconds. Lucky to come out of that lesson alive, I decided to look for a more suitable rifle."

I think I know the one you are talking about. Its the plainest version, but still a good buy. I would have picked it up myself if I didn't have an almost identical one in 458.

BTW, if you head down to the shop in Mountain View they have one with a very similar stock in 7x57, I think the tag was $550. It would be a sweet pair.

Well, I must drive too slow. By the time I got back to the shop, the rifle was gone. . .. Cold Trigger Finger, I think I'll keep your advice in mind and "buy on sight" if/when another comes along. Dean119, your right, the .375 was in the shop in San Carlos. I also saw the 7x57 in Mtn View today, I'll likely go back tomorrow when they open and get it. Thanks to all for the advice.
