Hello all, I am thinking about buying a Ruger # 1 Tropical in 458 Lott. I already own a Winchester model 70 in 416 rem. mag and just love it.(Now I am hooked on Big Bore's)
I have two questions ?

Will a Ruger # 1 make a good choice for a back up gun on dangerous game.
And is the # 1 built strong enough to take the kind of punishment that the Lott delivers.

I can't say that the #1 makes a good choice for a dangerous game rifle, whether for use or backup, but that isn't to say it can't be effectively used.

Considering the #1 has been routinely built into 470 and 500 NE's, and some larger rounds, the 458 Lott is well within int's capabilities.
