Hi can you folks recommend rings for my CZ 550 Safari Classic? I plan to put a Leupold 1.5 - 5x 20mm scope on it, so please let me know which height I should get too if that's possible. Thanks much, Chuck Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"

Hi Chuck375, Welcome to the forum could you put your location in your profile it helps when giving answers. Warren QD, medium height are a good choice as Will mentioned or you could just use the CZ rings in a medium. Chuck, Talley makes an excellent set of rings for the CZ. One height only though. The 1.5-5 20 mm has had problems when mounted on the magnum length actions, especially CZ's. The scopes are a tad bit short. When mounting, do not place the front ring over the front lens or you may break the seal or glass itself. I have seen it many times. Place the scope as far forward in the rear ring as possible, then mount the front ring on the dovetails as far to the rear as possible and don't over tighten the front ring. We have never had a problem with this mounting arrangement, even on the 585's and 600's.

Thanks for the advice on the rings and the mounting! I've updated my profile, I live in Colorado Springs, CO. Been living in the Rockies since the 70s, mostly Montana and Colorado ... Warne quit making the low QD's for the CZ, because the only scope you could use with those was one with an ocular bell the size of the Leupold 2.5X, otherwise the CZ bolt handle will hit the scope when you operate the bolt. Warne medium, jahwol. Talley medium, jawohl. Standard CZ rings are "high" in comparison to the above, but they are good rings. Here is how the now extinct Warne low QD's look with a Leupold 2.5X on a .505 Gibbs that has actually been fired about 30 times with no cross bolts and has not broken the stock yet. Cross bolts are on the to-do list for this "first edition." Caution has to be used not to crack the objective lens of this little scope. This one is glued into the rings with silicone adhesive, and not over-torqued. It has survived about 100 rounds on a 500 A-Square in the same rings. It has taken some lickin' and is still tickin':

The Warne and Talley medium Lever-QD's are lower than the standard CZ-made rings, and will handle any scope you might want to put on a heavy kicker.

I would go for something in ...x32 to ...x42mm objective diameter range.

Don't forget Burris makes a good set of rings for 550 actions. 200 hot rounds through the Rigby and my 6X40 Leupold hasn't budged yet. I follow Rule #62.
