Does anyone here have any experience with one of these? I traded the scope breaker (my featherweight .375) to my brother for his Sako AV and the thing feels absolutely wonderful. I'm thinking about putting it as a project gun, restocking it and rebarreling it to a caliber that I have yet to play with. Maybe a .470 Capstick? Any suggestions out there? I already own 2 Lotts, but I don't own anything over that, that will fit into this action.

Don't change the caliber. Don't restock it (but if you do, I'll buy your old stock).

I have the same rifle. It is wonderful as is. The most I would do is rechamber it to 375 Weatherby (I have one like that, and love it).

The factory stock will split if you turn it into a Capstick (too thin along the magazine walls).

Don't screw up a beautiful relationship!

That's the problem, the stock. I believe it might not be the original, it's a really heavy fiberglass deal that's painted in a camo sort of fashion. I believe the rifle weighs close to 11 pounds with that stock on it! I might leave it as is, although the stock is kind of a eyesore.

I had one of those; it was my first .375H&H.

Well made, very accurate, and it's a push-feed that works well.

I would not muck with it.

The Sako AV in 375 H&H was also my first 375 H&H. Great rifle and a great catridge. Lou

My first .375 was a sako AIII which is very similar. Mine only weighs 8.5 pounds loaded but shoots 3/4" groups all day long.

Try a McMillan stock. They are exact copies of the factory AV, and fit like a dream. If the stock is a McMillan with a (heavy fill) already, they will repaint it to a much nicer color for a nominal charge. Rick Bin on 24 Hour Campfire also paints stocks for a reasonable rate. His paint jobs are absolutely first class.

Jim, if you have not received your stock yet, it should be there any day. First time I ever shipped anything to Europe, I hope it finds you soon. Any AVs in 9.3x62? Lou

Lou!

No it hasn´t arrived yet! I´ll let you know as soon it arrives.

And I´m sorry to say that I have not found you an AV 9,3x62 yet. They are scarce here in Scandinavia but they pop up from time to time.

Keep in touch!!

Thank you all for your inputs! From everything I'm hearing from all of you, I think the only thing I'm going to do is put a McMillan stock on it and let her be.
As for the old stock, it's a heavy fill McMillan (looked it up) and it's a solid chunk of stock! It looks like a semi-garage camo painting job on it, and I don't want anything to do with it at the moment. I'll post some pics of the stock when I can, along with a few other pictures of some nice rifles I have. As for selling it, if anyone takes a liking to the picture name your price and I'll send it off!

That stock would be perfect for a 458 Lott, 470 Capstick, 500 A2, etc.

I'll weigh my 375 AV in a standard weight stock tomorrow. I'm guessing 9.5# scoped and loaded.
