okay i already know people dont like remingtons in these big calibers but i have a rem 700 safari that has been hardchromed, i would like to put a different stock and take the wood off. what do you think of a hogue pillar bedded stock. will it hold up to the recoil...

I would get a McMillan for that caliber I reckon, there the best composite stocks around........just to be safe !!

I would call Hogue and ask if they feel its OK for that caliber. I bet they give an honest answer. My gut feeling is you need the one with the bedding block, not just pillars.

McMillan would be the best,but H&S precision makes one that would work fine for less money and weight.Plus it has the bedding block built in.

I have my one of my 375's in a hogue without the bedding block and it does just fine. For a 416 I would use the Hogue with a bedding block. I'm not much on syn stocks, but I do like the Hogue stocks, its a good stock for the money.
