I just ordered one and want to know if it will hold 3 down and 1 in chamber. my other mauser actions don't, but they've all been older guns. Will it feed from the round being placed in the chamber instead on from the mag?
if it doesn't is it posibble to get my smith to fix it so it does?
cheers for the help, tm

Trapmonkey, My CZ 550 Magnums in .416 Rigby and the Lapua wildcats actually hold 4 down in the box. The .404 Jeffery holds 5 down in the box. The .375 RUM only holds 4 down in the box, for whatever reason, box, bedding and follower, and overall cartridge taper. The .375 H&H would hold six down in the box, but now that it is .375 Weatherby, it is 5 down in the box, IIRC.
The ones that only hold 3 down in the box, with .416 Rigby, are just a hair away from 4, and can usually be fixed by changing from the ribbed box to the smooth sided box.
CZ seems to be willy-nilly in using the ribbed box marked ".375 H&H" in their .416 Rigbys.
The ribs are stamped into the sides of the plain box and reduce its internal capacity.
There are also minor bedding issues sometimes that will alter the depth of the box by that extra hairs breadth that allows the fourth Rigby case to go in the box.
Using a slightly thinner Dakota follower also gives more room and allows the fourth in the box, and makes the top cartridge feed from the left instead of the right side of the stack.
The Mauser type extractor can be beveled to snap over the 5th cartridge push fed into the chamber, by a competent gunsmith.
You can also just do the Mauser maneuver by just pressing on the side of the middle part of the extractor as the bolt is closed to chamber that 5th cartridge.
Anyway, all of the CZ's need a good going over for smoothing and polishing rough edges everywhere, including the extractor. Nothing more could be expected for such a low price. They can be great guns with a little work. ***********************************************
