I've never seen these mentioned, other than Mauser type actions or old Mausers themselves. How much do these run? Does anyone have one? How about that bolt (under the options section)?!!! M 03 Africa link http://www.mauserwaffen.de/index.php?id=909&lang=en Thanks Minkman

Sadly, the Mauser is NOT a Mauser action. It is a push feed action with a horizontal cocking piece/safety. I saw a regular one (not the Africa version) for about $3K.

It sure looks a lot like the SigArms SRH 970 "Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Thanks, Though it's dissapointing to Mauser sink to PF actions, hence the lack of fanfare. Long live the CF action Minkman

The M98 Magnum is a traditional square bridge, CRF rifle! That one is worth a look, but the MO3 AFRICA is a dud! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

I think they want $9500 for the M98 Magnum. The M98 Magnum is a good gun, but for $9500 you can get a custom double square bridge magnum mauser (granite mountain arms action) that will beat the pants off the M98 Magnum in terms of quality and workmanship. I would say the M98 Magnum is on par with Dakota only - not exactly a true custom rifle, and worth not more than half what they are asking for it.

500grains is right. Even over here in Europe you can pay the same as for the Sigarms Mauser, and get a better one made by Johannsen or Prechtl. All of these 3 use the same Prechtl made action. A Ritterbursch would be about the same too (but on his own mag mauser action). I do like the M03 more than the other simular takedowns though, such as Blaser. I think it feels more like a real rifle than the straight pull R93. As a regualr rifle for deer, moose etc, the M03 would be fine IMO.

Alf, THe M03 fixes a problem that does not exist. I would much rather see a production M98 for $3K instead of another rifle with that queer cocking piece thingie.

One information. All the new Mauser rifles (M98, M98Magnum and M03) are made by Blaser Arms/Isny. No comment. On a real Mauser rifle must be engraved "Mauser Werke Oberndorf a.N."! Martin

Hi Men! The M03 Africa is not compareable to the M 98(Magnum)! Sauer and Mauser and Blaser all together are from Blaser! But they are very different! The price for a new M=§ Africa in Germany is just about 2549 €... So far good shooting!

Certainly true. But in $4K American rifles, the workmanship is comparable to the M03 and Blaser. It's not really fair to compare workmanship of a Marlin to a Blaser which costs 10x as much.
Huh? Have you ever shot a Savage 110, Rem 788, Rem 700, Marlin 1895? Or a Kimber? Or Cooper? Or a Sako (ok, not American, but priced at 25% the cost of a Blaser) There is no accuracy problem with these rifles.
Perhaps you are not familiar with the T/C Contender. Multi caliber guns are fine for gadget guys. I want each gun built to fit the cartridge which it shoots. There is nothing I dislike more than a 30-06 action feeding a .223 cartridge. Even an M98 large ring feeding a .308 bugs me because it doesn't fit. Kind of like using a magnum mauser action with a 3.8" magazine box to build a .500 Jeffery which easily fits into a standard length Mauser. But you left off your list another feature which Blaser and M03 include which is a solution to a nonexistent problem: the awkward and slow cocking thingie in place of a safety. I would be happy to hunt deer with a M03 if it had a regular safety. And if it were fitted with a claw extractor, I would even take it DG hunting. But not with the queer cocking thingie which just about cuts off my thumb when I try to operate it.
