This was my first year using the Hornady 270 gr and I don't think I will be doing it very much again. I just don't have confidence in it. I hit a calf elk @ about 50 yards with it. It tore up some spine and it did not exit. I know one animal is not represntative of the bullet but like I said I don't have confidence in it. I had it loaded over 67 gr of Varget for about 2620 fps from the muzzle

Rupert,

I suppose the point am trying to make is That your right it worked very well on a 120 odd pound grassy......but I know a woodleigh would have given an exit and retained more weight. I doubt it would be good for bigger dangerous game that bit back in the 1000 or greater pound mark if it lost so much weight on a 120 pound animal.
