Yes! I have asked similar questions but now I have a new tought about the recoil energy and "stopping power"

Newton second law. Or what it was say that the bullet will have the samw "push energy" as the recoil of the rifle.
But when I calculate the recoil energy of my .460 Wby I get a recoil energy of 110 joule. And the bullet have around 10 000 joule. How is this possible? The recoil energy is "PUSH energy" and it is calculated in foot pounds or as we in sweden in joule.
So is the ginetic energy a number that shows the "push energy" ???

I just calculate that the rifle weight would be 500 grains and have a velocity of 2400 FPS and 100 grains of powder then it shows at 10468 joule. Just as much as a bullet will have if the weight is 500 grain and is going at 2400 FPS...

So is the ginetic energy a number of the push energy???

This will be my last energy question if I anyone will tell me how it works!

Thanks! //Overkill

Overkill... for every reaction there is a equal and opposite reaction. So yes if your 460wby Rifle only weighed 500 grains then the recoil would be close to the amount of muzzle energy.
In newtons theory

By the way Overkill... you can ask as many and whatever questions you want, if it bothers others thats their problem.
