For a future project, a friend bought a Savage controlled feed in 300 Rem Ultra and wants to make it a 404 Jeff. I'm guessing a barrel change, a slight bolt face enlargement, and maybe mag box/feed lip adjustment are all that will be needed. Have I missed anything? The body length on the 404 is shorter than the 300 Ultra but I think the feed lips on the Savage mag box will adjust if needed.

I have converted a Savage 116 in .300 RUM to .404 Jeffery. Actually I have it set up as a switch barrel rifle. No mods were required to the bolt face, mag box or feed lips when converting. YMMV TreeFarmer NRA Life Member Moderation in the pursuit of decadence is no virture.

Those two calibers in a switch barrel makes for an extremely versatile/useful combination. Very clever, well done! P.S. If I knew somebody would help me, I might just have to try a project like that.
