Good morning. I'm considering the "black" Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan. A couple of questions, please:

1. To those who own the "black" version, how's the finish holding up? I'm not worried so much about corrosion as general resistance to wear and dings.

2. Has anyone tried to shorten the Hogue stock? I'm looking for about 13" LOP.

Thanks and best regards, ELN.

Yes, I tried the search function first. Wink

I put A Hogue stock on my sons .243 and the stock held up very well for about 6 years now. I don't know if you can cut the down. There might be a hollow spot in the stock.Try contacting Hogue,I'm sure they would be very helpful........PaLuke
