I have been shooting these bullets for a while in my 416 rem mag.I usually load them with 78 grs of reloader 15.I have had no pressure signs or any ejector marks. The 410 gr woodleighs kick way more than any of the 400 gr bullets I have ever loaded.I was wondering if this was due to the long bearing surface.

dgr416, I think Woodleigh now has a 400 grain bullet for the 416 Remington and advertise the 410 grain .416 bullet for the Rigby. Check out their website they are both there. Doesn't answer your question about pressure, but you may want to switch bullets.

The first thing you need to do is go buy one of the cheap chronographs ($70?). Different brand of bullets, different bullet weights (though only 10 grs.), different chambers and brand of barrels usually show considerable differences in velocities with the same powder and charge or vice versa. The nominal "factory" vel. for 400 gr. bullets is 2400 fps, and the 410 gr. bullets is 2350 fps. Though I did the same thing for many years, i.e., loading cartridges "blind," it is a really bad practice! Good luck. ------------------------------- Will / Once you've been amongst them, there is no such thing as too much gun. --------------------------------------- and, God Bless John Wayne. Yup.....that's excellent advice. A chronograph is a tool that every serious reloader should have. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I have shot many of those bullets, even used them on Buffalo for a long time..I used 78 grs. of RL-15 and never noticed any difference in them and the 400 gr. bullets I use today with the same load...
