Truthfully, Your best choices assuming three or more down in the box is your goal is the 1917 Enfield( alot of work), a Vektor action, a Granite Moutain Arms action or wait for a Montanna Rifleman action late this year. This is a BIG cartridge and while it physically fits in a CZ550/602. The cartridge stacking in the box is not large enough for three down, two works and one in the chamber will give you three in the gun, but not two down.-Rob

Rob, One does not need 3 down with the 505, you lose bowl control then consciousness after the first two shots.

If Hubel is building these things just to prove that he can, then I'm willing to allow as there are a few sillier hobbies around but this one seems harmless enough. If, on the other hand, he is trying to come up with something that could really be used in the bush, will someone please explain the point? The old .450 NE ballistics have been stopping charges successfully for over a hundred years and the last time I heard the game had not evolved into anything larger in the ensuing century. I think a greater audience for Gregor Woods' Rifles for Africa may calm a bit of the lunatic belief that if bigger is better than huge must be the best. Not that I would want to spoil anyone's weekend and afternoon entertainment but IMO he'd be better off becoming a better shot and studying animal anatomy.

Guys- I've been working on the 600 OK1 and 600 OK2 project ( 3.2 inch case) so nothing spectacular to report on the 505 Gibbs. It hit 2400 fps with a 535 gr bullet( with no Dramas as PC would say) and that was enough for me. I'll get back to it later. I actually like Hubel458's approach and with that big case I believe his results. Frankly, Hubel's idea of machining a belt onto a case with very thick case walls like the .50BMG and then swaging it down to a more straightwalled .656 has some appeal. Gerry Quintiles did something very similar and I was told that Imperial ARMs once worked on a belted .50BMG in .600, but only Dave at CH4D knows anything about it. Personally, Machining in a belt and swaging is the perfect solution to my "12 Gage from hell" idea. which is a belted .50BMG blown out to .727 and capable of firing regular 12 guage shells. Kinda like the 12 gage version of the .357 mag.-Rob
