Yesterday afternoon saw a brand-new, CZ 550 rifle with dual cross bolts in 416 Rigby, Not sure I need it, but I think its a great deal for $899. Rifle is solidly built and I believe it can be used as a base for a larger caliber. I was thinking 505 Gibbs, 500 Jeff or 470 Cap, any thoughts?

CZ produces that rifle in both 500 Jeff and 505...I think you would be far ahead to just buy one in the caliber you want and modify it from there to your wants.
As for the 470 Capstick, the bolt face on the Rigby is too large for the Capstick case. You could easily go to a 470 Mbogo though.

Your .416 Rigby boltface is too big for a 470 Capstick.
You should go with a 470 Mbogo instead, if you get tired of the .416.

My CZ .416 Rigby is an older one with the slimmer hogback, but it has had two crossbolts installed in addition to the third behind the tang, and glass-and-pillar bedded.

It shot so well that I left the recoil contraption on the barrel alone, other than to epoxy the F-Block into the wood of the barrel channel.

Mine was selected back in the old days when they provided test targets at 100 meters, and it put 3 shots into less than an inch, about 3/4 MOA. Mine is a keeper.

Economically though, it would probably be cheaper to buy the 416 and rebarrel it to something bigger. The 500 and 505 from CZ cost something like $2,200 or more. If you buy the 416 at $900, rebarrel it for say $600 - 800 you're somewhere around $1,500-1,700. That gives you a little change to buy dies, brass, bullets, or whatever.

I've got the CZ in 375, btw. I really like mine.

The wood is very good and it handles very well, much like the safari classics line. I just think it's too good of a deal to pass up.

AFTER, you decide about the 416. I would be interested to know a good gun shop near NYC, assuming Westchester country is near West Chester. I make occasional visits to NYC and a well stocked and good price gun shop might be a nice diversion
