I have finally picked up my 460 G&A Friday a week ago.

No photos yet as I just returned from a track and signs with a bit of elephant trailing in the Pafuri area right down into the Limpopo river for a week.

As the 460G&A will be my trails rifle it will be fed 500gr Dzombo solids mostly.

But stumbling on Stewards 350gr Permium softs I bought a packet.

The idea is to shoot them at around 2600fps and use them for bushveld hunting with open sights as well.

This will give me more time with the rifle in the bush and will be mean medisyne for animals in the Blue Wildebees range.

Anybody else do something similar in the 458 caliber range?

I like the 350 grain Barnes for north American game at about the same speed.

Gerhard,

In a 4-5-8 I had excellent accuracy and performance on North American game up to and including moose with 350 Barnes X bullets. Your 350's should be very good for PG in Africa.

I used 350 grain Hornady Round Nose soft points in both the .458's I owned, a Model 77 Ruger and a CZ 550 and got good accuracy and they did good work on whitetail deer and feral hogs.

Even the rocks don't last forever.

I loaded up a bunch of 350 grain TSXs in a 458 Win up into the 26s awhile back; and killed amoung other things about 60 water buffalo with them. I was curious as to how far one could go to making a 458 fit into the .375 slot. Turns out its still a pretty good .458 too.

Thanks for the info.

The Stewards Premium Softs will have to do as the chances of getting Barnes TSX in 350gr is very very slim.

Will give a report back once I get more data on my final return from Saudi end of October.

I load Cutting Edge Bullets in my 458WinMag. They have many to chose from weighing 258gr all the way 500gr. The 300gr ESP or the 258gr Flatbase are hard to beat. They penetrate like mad!
