RogerScope bases for a Hawkeye
Gents,
I want to use see thru mounts on a 375 Ruger Hawkeye and was wondering if anyone has done this?

Bo RichYes, my friend just put them on his Ruger Hawkeye African. I believe Weaver made them.

GatehouseSee throughs??? They still make those? Peopel stil use them???

As stated, Ruger rings are quick detachable, so if you want to ue the iron sights, just pop off th escope wiht a coin.

RogerGents,
Don't want quick detachable. If that's what I was going to do, they would be Warne.
Don't want side mounted over the bore either.
I want to see glass and iron thru the same rings...

doccashMakes the scope mount way high, a rather poor system at best, IMO. Dr,C

ramrod340Here you go.

As usual just my $.02

Well the Hawkeye uses the same rings as the M77 this is what midway has to say about the rings.
That is all I know.
""Style: Weaver
Fits: Ruger 77
Material: Steel
Notes: These bases fit the new model 77 with an integral sight base, not the older round top configuration. """

RIPThose "Steel Lock" Weavers have an aluminum bottom half and a sheet-metal strap that forms the top half of the ring. The Bottom half of each ring has a hole as big as the Holland Tunnel for looking through. Two holes, two Holland Tunnels. Must be Holland & Holland Rings.
Add a stiff breeze and the scope will be pointing all over the place, even if you hold the rifle rock solid. And your head will be so high you won't be able to keep your eye steady if using the scope.
I tried rings like that with my first deer rifle, a Marlin 30-30. I never did kill nuttin' 'til I got some good rings.

Rick RNone of us here usually has "sensible" as a purchase specification listed before "want", and it's a comparison of Golden Delicious to Braeburn but, one of the local gun shop guys was showing me the aftermath of a fellow who just had to have see-thru rings on his Remington 700 in .375 RUM. After trashing the third set he finally gave up on the idea.
Something about hanging a weight that far out then subjecting it to beaucoup g forces and expecting those four little screws or those gracefully bowed see thru channels to hold....
