.416-375 ultra k... What is it
I've googled the crap out of this calibre but the only info I can find on it is loading dies. Does any body have any info on it such as what case its based on and how its made etc.

I've never heard of it. Ask in the 'Wildcat Cartridges' forum, too.

Like Bwana-be indicated, Z-Hat custom features this wildcat. However, good luck contacting them. They don't answer their phone and I've probably e-mailed the owner, Fred Zeglin, about 15 times regarding this very chambering, without one reply. Business must be so good for Fred that he doesn't need any new business from new customers. Anyway, I've moved on to other gunsmiths who are more accomidating.

Whats there to know, you like it, get a reamer cut, buy the dies and do it. Buy yourself a 300, 338 or 375 Ultra Magnum, Get Tony at MAB or TSE to cut the chamber and thread it and screw it on.

But I can tell you I wouldn't like the 416 in a Remington action. Put it on a CZ 375H7H or 458 Lott action

If you have been thinking about it for ages you want it, just do it

............It is actually a round that I am very interested in ..416 RUM that is ......It will fit in a big CZ action very well and if Dakota has thier specs right it will do around 2550 fps with a400 gr bullet ..............................It should do about 3000 fps with a 300 gr .bullet .... Eeker .......................Zoom Zoom ......

Yeah I'm very interested in the 416RUM too. Being only about 7% smaller in case capacity than the weatherby it should be a good thing with out the hassles and exspense of a weatherby. I'm also building it on CZ action. What I was wondering though is there any difference between what they're calling the 416/300RUM and this .416-375 ultra k.
Cheers guys

DRSS............................................Wouldn,t that closly duplicate the 460 G&A Magnum .......probly beat it by 50 fps ...........I like the 416/375 RUM best because it doesn,t need to be expanded as much at the neck .................I don,t think there is any 375 RUM brass in town here but there is 300 so I,ll scrounge up a box and seat some 416 bullets in them ...have a looksee ...........I like that [[[[have p17 Rem , will wildcat .....]]

and the Rigby.

Sounds like a lot of work, money, and trouble, to me. Why not just jack up 416 Rigby loads towards the 416Wby range. You will have off the shelf, brass, dies, and the rifle, too boot.

May be I am too much of a K.I.S.S., kind of guy.

But if it "floats your boat" to take the long way around, hope you have a pleasent journey. wave

If you're talking CZ, there's a point, but the RUM case can be chambered in "standard" magnum-length action like the M700, M70, M77, even a fairly fondled k98....

Did I mention that the .416 Rigby can do 2700fps with 400 gr bullets in a RSM? Sorry I forgot, I think its called a , Beltless .416 WBY! Duh!-Rob

Im sure it would take skill, but surprised no one has done a 2.85" Rigby Improved case in a Ruger/Winchester/Mauser type action. k98s have been chambered in 416 Rigby, so it can be done, albeit with a little too much front action milling, which would be "fixed" by taking out some of that old-fashioned taper and shrinking the COL down to 3.6", no?....
Think last time I played with the numbers it seemed easy enough to maintain the same useable powder space with such a case.

With CZs' and RSMs' very easy to come by,I don't understand why go to the additional trouble to end up with a 416 case with less capacity than the Rigby case.Obviously the Rigby can be loaded much heavier than the standard loadings. While we are talking 416s, do any of you have any experience with an approx. 20" barrel CZ 550 in 416 Rigby?

Well, the subject in this case is a CZ action, but imagine a fellow had a standard mag-length action, wanted a 416, and the rem Mag just wasnt big enough?
Short, improved Rigby would fit the bill nicely.
Even more so if you wanted to convert a 416 RM.

I actually think the best way to do the 416 ultra, if a guy just has to have one, is to use a classic Mod. 70 300 RUM. Basically just rebarrel. There should be minimal additional ramp work. The Mod. 70 can still occasionally be found in blue or stainless.I have a NIB stainless 300 RUM waiting for some inspiration. I don't think it will ever become a 416 though.

.....It would fit in a CZ 550 Safari Mag . 375 bolt face action if someone had a spare one of them around .....

The CZ rifle I was planning to build the 416RUM on is already a 300RUM so the mag adjustments have already been made. Before deciding to use this rifle as a donor I was looking around for a used 416REM as the case length is the same as a RUM cartridge and it would be a reasonably easy job to just stick my 300RUM reamer up it and adjust the mag. But there seems to be a shortage of any sort of decent 2nd hand 416 here is Aus. The 300 barrel is shot out now anyway so it looks like a good candidate for a .416 of some description.
Cheers Brett

............................................................................................................I think the reason there arn,t many used ones around is most people like them too much to get rid of them .........I,ve been thru a few of them but they were works in progress ......My current one is about the best Alaskan hunting rifle I could build ..................I,m hoping Gerard will design the Perfect bullet for it ,,,[ a 300 gr bullet that looks like a S P but expands like an HV .....]] But still with the 300 gr X 330 gr HV or 350 gr TSX it.works from the muzzle to 400 yrds and maybe more ,, and it is easy on the recoil ......Your CZ will be perfect for the 416 RUM .......If Gerard would make a .416 bullet that looked exactly like the 300 gr .411 HV bullet .....MMmmmmmmmmm perfect ....

...Well Today I got some 300 RUM ammo , pulled the bullets , punched out the primer and annealed them then necked them up ,,I put the tapered expander from myLee 416 Rem mag dies in a Lee universal decaping die ....Worked slick ......Glad I,ve got those , Top quality , very affordable LEE dies ..[[KB]] .,., I seated bullets in 4 rounds and tried the functioning in my CZ 458 Lott....Fed very well , I will check into a Rigby magazine box ....Looks big ...And fast ......

You better buy up alot of brass if you make a 416 ultra mag.I was going to make one too but waited a little bit.I think the 375 ultra mag is going to disapear quick. The brass will go away too when it happens.I have 6 416 rem mags and Remington decides when to make brass for it when they feel like it.I bought 8,000 pcs cheap to make sure I had a life time or two supply.I am going with the 416 Ruger next.I am looking for a strong stock for the Mark I tang safety model 77 and put a stainless barrel on it.I like the shorter throw. The 416 Weatherby brass is way stonger than the 416 ultra mag brass is.I am not sure how many reloads the ultra brass will take but the weathbery brass is awesome I have reloaded my 338-378 17 times before I quit.I get about 6 loads out of my 416 rem mag brass.I thought the 416 ultra mag would be awesome too but do I really need it?It is the biggest 416 that will fit in the model 70 winchester or 700 remongton. The 416 Ruger will fit in any long action.I have seen three 416 Ultra mags they had rcbs dies with them.

..............Ya there is alot of room left over in the length of the CZ mag. box ...but either a different follower or wider mag box is probably the ticket ..........If I didn,t already like the Rem Mag so much I would go for it real fast ....I would like to talk to someone who had one and really wrung it out ,,, I,m after 2950 from a 300 gr TSX or GS HP ,if Gerard doesn,t make a 300 gr HV in .416 ......and I would like it with less than 53,000 cup ......I was out shooting my Lott tonight and I,m pushing a 400 gr bullet @ 2500 fps so far and have a ways to go yet .....So I don,t think I need the 416 RUM .........Every time I think I,ve come up with the perfect replacement for my Lott I find that I haven,t ,,. I think I,m going to just have it reamed to 458 3" belted and be done with it ....Not that I know of a source of 3 " brass , but I wouldn,t ever need to trim brass ........
