Just ran the first 9 of these thru my mark x. I started quite low 68.5 rl 15. Worked up to 69.5 at 2643fps, that produced a 5/8 group of 3. Definitive possibilites here. Very easy shooting so am going to go up. Is 2800fps doable in most of Your guns? I,m running these right at 3.60"

if the load you're shooting now is OK, I'd be tempted to stay where ya are. At 2650 or so you have a very fine plains game bullet!

I agree 2650 is a good number with that bullet. But, what the heck, 2750 should be easy....if she still groups and doesn't caress the shoulder TOO much. I'd stop there....too hot here could mean a bit of sticky extraction in the African heat.

Good luck.

Garby I think that You are right. If all holds as far as groups I will stop at 2750 that is where my very good partition load is at. I am enjoying working up loads for this gun and doing lots of shooting off sticks with it. Prep for Africa in May. I hope that the north forks work out but won't feel bad taking the 260gr partitions either. Thanks

Mine goes 2770 fps with 72 grains of RL15 in my Whitworth. From experience, I know mine works in African heat. This is a great load for larger plains game.

When I run out of 272 grain Hirtenberger ABCs, the 270 grain NFs are what I will use.

2,650-2,700 fps is all you will ever need.

I have killed a trophy room full of game with such loads.

Stop right where you are. The enemies of really damn good and safe is perfection and chasing velocity.

I will only be shooting for 2,800 fps with a 375 Weatherby.

With a traditional bullet I agree with all the rest/ You have excellent accuracy and leeway for the heat of Africa.

To get more velocity safely I use a banded 155 gn KJG copper bullet @ 3300 fts out of my 375 H+H with 73.3 gn RL 10X. At 2" high we are 2" low out to 260 yds. Very little meat damage even on small plains game.
